War Story

The game started out as a traditional Aztec war, both players drushing with 5 militia. But once Chris saw Daut’s militia marching towards his base, he made some extra militia to force a definitive advantage. Which worked as Daut lost all his militia. After that Daut tried to make a forward base for archers. Chris still had quite a few militia and he upgraded them to man at arms. He also added some skirmishers to his army, but the focus of his army was on man at arms. After some feudal fighting where Chris showed that man at arms stand a chance in feudal wars, Daut went to the castle age. Notably faster than Chris. Chris still had man at arms, which counter eagles and despite not beating them, still deal a fair amount of damage. Chris now went along in the eagle fight as they’re much easier on an economy. After some eagle fighting all over the map, Chris started to blend in Longswordman, to effectively counter Daut’s eagles. Daut was forced to do the same and the game slowly advanced to a Longsword Showdown. Chris eventually managed to overcome Daut, despite aging slower. And we finally got to see a game where Longswordmen played a deciding role.
