War Story
This game is from the time drushing wasn’t the most popular tactic yet. Or maybe they just didn’t want a boring drush game. Anyways, they both studied the map well and it was clear that both had nothing but forward gold mines. Defensive playing was out of the question for Chris and he went fwd with 2 archery ranges. Which kept Daut out of gold for a long time. The flushwar went on for some time and Chris castled earlier than Daut. Because Chris controlled all the gold on the map, he could pump eagles from 3 barracks with full armor upgrades. And Daut had no gold at all. But despite that, he managed to survive with a castle and most important, a handful of jaguar warriors. Those raging warriors totally decimated Chris’ eagles and skirms, giving Daut the possibility to slowly “push” town centers towards some gold mines. Because surviving without gold is one thing, but you can’t win a game like that against an imperial Aztec. Chris imped after some more skirmishing and went all out jaguar warriors. Daut was terribly behind and had to defend from imperial jaguars for a while with nothing but his own jaguars and some skirmishers. He succeeded though and once he got to the imperial age too, the game went into a more or less balanced jag+skirm fight. But balance is there to break, and Daut took his chance. Even though the game was dominated by jaguars, he started to invest in eagles. Not to fight at the stalemated battlefield, but to raid Chris’s economy. And after over an hour of gaming Daut could finally force Chris to resign.
